Mixed results for the Stutes

Histon bounced back from a defeat at the weekend to earn a midweek draw against Chalfont St Peter in Evo-Stik League Southern, Division One Central.

They faced Beaconsfield SYCOB on Saturday, and ended up being beaten 3-2.

They took the lead through an Elkanah Sibanda free-kick after 35 minutes at the Glass World Stadium, but it was all square three minutes later as Callum Mapley equalised for the hosts.

Histon regained the lead in the 72nd minute when James Carman scored from the penalty spot, having been brought down by the Beaconsfield keeper.

The visitors responded in the 82nd minute though, with Charlie Lossaso tapping in to make it 2-2.

Simon Unwin was then sent-off for Histon, and in stoppage time, Lossaso scored from the edge of the box to earn Beaconsfield the three points.

It was a second defeat in a row for Histon, but they responded by picking up a point against Chalfont St Peter on Tuesday night.

It helped them close the gap on Aylesbury, who had been one place and one point above them outside the relegation places, but earned a bit of breathing space to earn a 1-0 win over Egham.

Lance Key’s men are away to eight-placed Potters Bar Town this Saturday.
