Histon make it five United Counties League Premier Division South wins in a row with victories over Yaxley and Bugbrooke St Michaels
Histon have extended their winning sequence in the Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division South to five matches.
The Stutes racked up a fourth straight victory on Saturday when they triumphed 2-1 on the road at Yaxley.
Finley Edwards broke the deadlock for Histon and while the hosts responded through Oleksandr Muzychuk, Matt Hayden struck in first-half stoppage time to secure the three points.
And Hayden was Histon’s key man on Tuesday evening in the 3-1 home win over Bugbrooke St Michaels.
After falling behind early on, the striker spearheaded his side’s charge to victory by scoring a hat-trick – the third of which was a goal of the season contender.
Histon boss Chris Nunn said: “The boys were outstanding. It was a tough game against tough opponents, so I’m delighted with the three points.
“Five wins on the bounce is huge and it’s only one league defeat in 10 now. I don’t want us to take our foot of the peddle, so the hard work continues.”
Twelfth-placed Histon’s current run of form has moved them to within touching distance of the top half of the table, with G.N.G Oadby Town in 10th just four points better off.
Nunn’s side will go in search of a sixth win in a row on Saturday (23 March) when they play host to promotion-hunting Aylestone Park.
