Stutes seal thumping victory over Peterborough Northern Star

Histon set up a home clash with Eynesbury Rovers by dispatching Peterborough Northern Star 6-1 in the FA Cup, extra preliminary round.

They went ahead at the Glass World Stadium in the 14th minute, Max York slotting home a penalty.

Northern Star equalised in the 41st minute, but the Stutes had a 2-1 lead at half time thanks to Evan Key’s 25-yard free kick.

Keeper Sam Roach saved a Northern Star penalty at the start of the second half, before York converted his second spot-kick to make it 3-1 to Histon.

In the 64th minute, Lee Smith’s free kick was headed in at the back post by Rob Ruddy.

Rukky Diejomaoh reacted well to a ball into the box to turn smartly for Histon’s fifth in the 82nd minute.

Ed Rolph’s surging run into the box and smart finish completed the scoring in the 84th minute.

The clash with Eynesbury Rovers, who were 2-1 victors over Raunds Town last Saturday, will take place on Saturday, August 25.

Histon are back in league action this Friday, away to Godmanchester Rovers.
