Histon suffered last-gasp heartbreak in a 1-1 draw at home to Belper Town in the Northern Premier League, Midlands Division.

It was second top versus second bottom, but it was the team at the lower end of the table that took the lead.

Three minutes into the second half, Junior Muyumbe swung in a corner from the right and Ollie Brookes swept home a shot to give Histon the lead.

Belper were awarded a penalty in the 70th minute, but Histon keeper Sam Roach saved Johnathon Margetts’ spot kick.

However, in the third minute of added time, Danny South headed an equaliser for Belper at the back post.

Cambridge City suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road at fourth-placed Halesowen Town. Bradley Birch’s third-minute effort and a 32nd-minute goal by Richard Gregory did the damage, while City also had Max Ryan sent off.

City host Histon at Bridge Road on Monday, December 27 at 3pm.
