Goals keep flying in for third team

Lucy Davidson took her tally for the season to 28 goals as Cambridge South III won 17-0 against Cambridge South IV in East Women’s League, Division 5NW (S).

Davidson grabbed six goals, while Dani Arnold weighed in with five and Kath Atkin, Lauren Brown and Jess Woodhouse got two apiece.

Tabitha Broome was the outstanding performer for South IV.

Sophie McComish scored the only goal of the game as South firsts won 1-0 against St Ives II in 2NW.

South had all the possession and keeper Lou Tonkin only had one shot to deal with, while at the other end they were working hard to create an opening but were lacking the final touch.

But the deadlock was broken midway through the second half when Robyn Murray’s unselfish pass picked out McComish at the far post to tap in.

Jack Chalk provided the bookends to Cambridge South’s 2-2 draw with Blueharts II in East Men’s League, Division 2S.

He scored the first goal only seconds into the game, finishing off Jim Hockley’s cross to the far post.

Blueharts hit back with goals either side of the interval to go 2-1 ahead.

But as time appeared to be running out, a dribble by Harry Chalk saw him upended in the final minute, and Jack Chalk converted the penalty stroke to seal the draw.

A poor first half cost Cambridge South II dear as they lost 4-2 to St Ives II in 4NW.

St Ives were 3-0 up by half time, but Ali Edge notched a double to reduce the arrears.

However, St Ives sealed the win on the break as South committed players forward in the last 10 minutes in search of an equaliser.

Cambridge South III fought back from a goal down to beat St Neots II in 4NW.

The Saints went ahead from a penalty corner, but South drew level at the end of the first half through an Ash Dookun close-range effort.

Simon Ta got South’s winner though, after a goalmouth scramble.

Man-of-the-match Stuart Creed scored Cambridge South V’s only goal as they lost 5-1 to promotion-chasing Kettering III in 6NW (S).
