Cambridge youngster Indigo Myers harbours hopes of becoming British figure skating champion

Cambridge figure skater Indigo Myers may have only turned seven last week but she already has a major life goal mapped out – to become a British champion.

The St Matthew’s Primary School pupil currently trains multiple times a week under the tutelage of Lisa Nugent and Kevin Marshall at Cambridge Ice Arena on Newmarket Road.

And she is seemingly a natural out on the ice, highlighted by her recent victory during a Spin, Spiral, Jump competition at Peterborough’s Plant Ice.

Indigo was up against competitors several years older than herself, yet that did not stop her coming up on top.

Mum Angharad said: “She was so, so happy to win and she was really surprised as well.

“I’m really proud of her determination and dedication. It’s a physical sport and you fall over a lot, but she just gets on with it.

“My heart is my mouth watching her, but she’s amazing and it’s given her so much confidence.

“We are so grateful to her coaches Lisa and Kevin because they’ve helped Indigo to find something that she truly loves – she counts down the time to every training session.

“She wants to be British champion one day and then coach other people – that’s her target.”
