Jabo Ibehre to miss the end of Cambridge United campaign
U's frontman sidelined with knee injury
Jabo Ibehre is set to be ruled out for the rest of Cambridge United’s season.
The 35-year-old striker was injured in the 3-2 defeat to Exeter City, and it looks to have ended a frustrating campaign which has been stop-start for the former Carlisle man.
“Jabo will probably miss the rest of the season, unfortunately,” said U’s interim head coach Joe Dunne.
“We are light in that part of the pitch. We had to bring Medy in last week to play against Stevenage, which is credit to him.
“Jabo will miss the rest of the season as he has a slight knee injury which unfortunately between now and the short period to the end of the season, he won’t make it.
“It’s been an unlucky season for him.
“What we try to focus on is the period we’ve had him and the period he has played – he’s been very good.
“They are the positives. When we’ve had those windows where we’ve had Jabo, he’s done really well in them.
“That’s the mindset, when we have the players we look at what they’ve done and given to the team, whether it’s five games, 10 games, 20 games, 40 games.
“Every time we’ve had Jabo available, he has done really well for us. This is just an unfortunate thing that he will come back from.”
