Jack Franklin helps Cambridge Nomads make Pelicans pay the penalty
And Harry Lewis gets two goals as Cambridge South win
Jack Franklin’s penalty stroke proved crucial as Cambridge Nomads beat Norwich Dragons 3-2 in East Men’s League, Division 2N.
Having dominated possession early on, Nomads took the lead through Martin Hamon and a dominant first-half display was rounded off by Freddie Jones’ deflected short corner.
They went 3-0 up midway through the second half through Franklin, however, some sloppy defending allowed Dragons to score twice in the closing minutes.
Harry Lewis notched two goals for Cambridge South as they sealed a 6-1 win over Pelicans in 2N.
South went 3-0 up before half time through Mike Karran, Chris Pearson and Joel Harrison.
Tom Kemsley’s weaving run set up Lewis for a tap-in at the start of the second half. He then grabbed a second and Jim Hockley completed South’s scoring, with Pelicans getting a late consolation.
South II came out of the traps flying to clinch a 4-1 victory over Wisbech Town III in 4NW.

Defender Tom Anns got only his second goal for South in more than 150 appearances, and Owen Russell grabbed the fourth with a neat deflection. Wisbech scored late on.
South III let slip a two-goal lead as they were held to a 2-2 draw by City of Peterborough VI in 4NW.
After a goalless first half and an injury delay, South upped the intensity to take the lead through Oli Anderson’s penalty stroke and got a second through Simon Ta, who rounded the keeper to score from a narrow angle.
South were unable to take numerous chances to extend their advantage, and Peterborough hit back to score twice in the last six minutes.

The hosts went ahead before Hinchu equalised but after conceding a second from a short corner were only to convert their chances to square things up.

Spalding went ahead before Oli Weston equalised after a goalmouth scramble, but the visitors struck again to go 2-1 up at half time.
Two well-worked goals, from Paul South and Oli Scott, gave South the upper hand and two fierce flicks high into the net from penalty corners by James secured them victory.
