U's announce retained/released list

Four of Cambridge United’s regular first-team squad from this season have been released.

The U’s have announced their retained/release list this morning after the culmination of the 2016/17 Sky Bet League Two campaign.

Goalkeeper David Gregory, midfielders James Dunne and Conor Newton and striker Ben Williamson will not be offered new deals after the expiry of their current contracts.

Joe Pigott, who featured in the first half of the season before going out on loan to Wealdstone, has also been released.

Young midfielder Dylan Williams, who first joined United when he was eight and developed through the academy, will also be leaving the club, having been out on loan last season.

Defender Mark Roberts, who has one year remaining on his contract at the U’s, has been placed on the transfer list.

And the U’s will continue to focus on supporting Barry Corr to help him regain full fitness and discussions regarding his future will take place in due course.

All remaining professional players are under contract at the Cambs Glass Stadium for next season.

Meanwhile, loanees Max Clark, Scott Wharton and Gerry McDonagh have all returned to their parent clubs after the conclusion of their loan spells.
