Lilywhites chalk up success at Fleet Town

James Hall and Ryan Sharman were on target for Cambridge City as they won 2-1 against Fleet Town in the Evo-Stik League, South East Division last Saturday.

It has been a stop-start January for the Lilywhites, and in testing conditions in Hampshire, the game struggled to get going as it reached half time at 0-0.

City improved after the break, and took the lead in the 50th minute.

Nathan Olukunmi broke and crossed for Hall, who made no mistake to ram the ball home.

They had to wait until the 80th minute to double their lead though.

Hall was the provider this time, setting up Sharman to head home his 24th goal of the season.

Fleet pulled a goal back in the 89th minute to set up a tense finish, but City were able to hold on to complete their first double of the season.

City’s scheduled home match against Hanwell Town on Monday night was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

They are due to be at home again this Saturday (February 3) against Barton Rovers.
