Midfielder pens additional year on contract

Jevani Brown has extended his contract at Cambridge United.

The 23-year-old midfielder has agreed an additional one-year deal at the Abbey Stadium that sees him commit to the club until the end of the 2019/20 season.

Brown, who made 47 appearances last season after joining from St Neots Town in August 2017, said: “I’m very pleased to have signed the new deal at Cambridge United.

“It’s always good to have that security behind you and allows me to focus fully on my performances and working hard every day.

“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead, especially after having my first full season in the Football League last year. It has definitely made me adjust my goals and I want to achieve more.

“The whole squad believes that Joe’s high intensity style of play can continue to bring out the best in us.”

Ben Strang, Cambridge United’s head of football, said: “Jevani’s first season with us was encouraging and we still feel there is more to come from him. We will always aim to secure the club’s key assets wherever possible, so we’re pleased we’ve been able to reach an agreement.

“Our desire is to continue developing young players from both within our own academy as well as those we have recruited, and Jevani certainly fits that mould.

“Jevani has made significant progress over the last year at Cambridge United and we all know he has even more to offer. He is an important and exciting player for us and we look forward to helping him develop further at the club.”
