Joe Tetley ton in Burwell & Exning draw with Bury St Edmunds
Skipper stays among the runs
Joe Tetley maintained his good run of form with a third century in his last four innings as Burwell & Exning drew with Bury St Edmunds in Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.
Burwell won the toss and batted first, making a difficult start as they were 13-2, but that brought Tetley to the wicket.
By the time he departed, it was after hitting 123 off 102 balls, with the score on 191 for 6.
Jamie Seabrook shored up the other end with 56, as Burwell & Exning were eventually bowled out for 267.
It was a 73-run stand for the ninth wicket that denied Burwell & Exning victory though. James Sturgeon (49 not out) and George Lloyd (22 not out) guiding Bury to 255 for 8 to earn the draw. Tyron Koen was the pick of the bowlers with three for 96.
Cambridge Granta’s difficult run of form continued as they lost by six wickets to Sudbury.
Despite several batsmen getting starts, they were unable to convert them as they were stopped on 204 for 9.
Chris Benjamin (38), Tristan Blackledge (32) and Lewys Hill (30) were the top scorers.
Tom Huggins’ 72 and Adam Mansfield’s 52 set the tone for Sudbury’s reply as they made 207 for 4 to earn victory. Alex Sears took three for 51.
