Jonty Rawcliffe and Marc Koteczky make moves to Cambridge Rugby Club
Jonty Rawcliffe and Marc Koteczky will be winging their way into Cambridge Rugby Club next season.
The back-line additions will boost the options available to director of rugby Richie Williams, and strengthen their ranks.
Rawcliffe is returning to the East after three seasons at Sale FC.
Originally from Norfolk, he went to the North West to study in Manchester and, after joining Sale FC, has been a success in the back three.
“What Jonty will bring to us is a different physicality to our back three,” said Williams.
“With him being well over 6ft, he gives us another aerial option. Our kicking game is something we want to develop even more next season.
“He has also got a very strong kicking game so I think he is someone that will give us even more strength in depth in a strong position in the back three we had last season.”
Koteczky is a player that Williams is also familiar with, as they have worked together with the Hungary national team.
The 30-year-old Australian first played for Plymouth Albion in this country, but he has a Hungarian grandmother.
As a technical consultant to the nation, Williams got Koteczky involved in the sevens Olympic qualifying tournament.
Koteczky, who can play in a range of positions, was with Old Elthamians last season.
“He has played a lot of rugby at Plymouth Albion so he has a fair bit of Championship experience and knows the landscape of English rugby,” said Williams.
“He is 30 so I think that level of experience and versatility to be able to play 10, 12 or 13 will really help us next season.”
