Success at the British Universities and Colleges Sport Championships

Judo proved to be the profitable sport for Anglia Ruskin University at the annual British Universities and Colleges Sport Championships.

The ARU judo team excelled in Sheffield, winning seven medals.

European universities champion Mateja Glusac took gold, and there were silver medals for Billy Goldsmith, Jade Warr and Ryan Burt.

Adam Adaman and Isabella Mahoney won bronze medals, while the men’s team took silver.

Martin Beaver, head of sport and Active Anglia, said: “It was an excellent event for Anglia Ruskin students, with some great performances from the experienced athletes and some really exciting performances from the new students.

“Those reaching judo finals will now qualify for the European University Championships in Portugal, where Mateja will try to defend his title.”
