Jade Guest leads side to success

Captain Jade Guest led Cambs and Hunts Ladies County Golf Association juniors’ team to victory in the East Region Trophy.

The Gog Magog player was joined by clubmates Morgan Tritton and Lucy Pepper, Ely City’s Natasha Bamford and Jessica Hollingsworth and Meridian’s Lila-Bella Nacca to take on teams from Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Hertfordshire at Newton Green Golf Club.

Thick fog delayed the start, but once play started, Guest put in a solid performance to score 33 points.

Tritton returned with 30 and Pepper made 29, while Bamford had an amazing round to earn 45 points, a total that earned her the prize for the best overall score in the 16 to 24 handicap category.

Hollingsworth grabbed 29 points and Nacca, the youngest player in the team, got 28, and, with the four best scores counting, it gave Cambs and Hunts 137, beating Suffolk by two.

Meanwhile, Old Nene’s Jacquie Richardson, the county president, and Linda Harness went one better than last year to win the Autumn Foursomes at March Golf Club.

They scored 60 points to lift the trophy, finishing one clear of Ramsey’s Hazel Suswain and Robin Singleton. March’s Emma Norman and Sarah Oldham beat Bourn’s Diane Amps and Paula Offer to third on countback.
