Cambridge City announce return of George Smith after stint with Isthmian League North Division champions Brentwood Town
Cambridge City boss Jamie Cureton has further bolstered his attacking options with the return of George Smith.
Last week the Lilywhites announced that they had reached an agreement to sign Mikey Salako, who has scored 50 goals in the previous two seasons for Herne Bay.
And Salako will be joined up front at the FWD-IP Community Stadium by the familiar presence of Smith.
Despite leaving City in February for Brentwood Town, Smith finished last term as the club’s leading scorer with 16 goals from 31 appearances.
He went on to feature on seven occasions – scoring twice – for a Brentwood side that wrapped up the Isthmian League North Division title ahead of Felixstowe & Walton United and Bury Town.
But following confirmation of his recent departure from the Essex club, Smith has now sealed a move back to City.
It means that City have added a pair of strikers this summer that have bagged 90 goals between them in the previous two campaigns.
