Stutes get back to winning ways

Lewis McDonald struck twice for Histon as they won 2-0 against Whitton United in the Thurlow Nunn League, Premier Division last Saturday.

The right wing-back broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, finishing off at the back post after Dan Brown’s turn in the area and low ball across the six-yard box.

Whitton had a player sent off for a second yellow card in the 43rd minute, and moments later, McDonald doubled Histon’s advantage, curling a fine effort into the top corner with his left foot from 20 yards.

McDonald went close to grabbing his hat-trick, heading over the bar after a chipped through ball from Evan Key.

The Stutes are away to Walsham le Willows tonight (Wednesday) in the league, and then face Wroxham at home on Saturday (September 29).
