Cambridge City manager Jamie Cureton adds to midfield with signing of Tilbury’s Sam Carter

Cambridge City manager Jamie Cureton has bolstered his midfield options with the signing of Sam Carter.

The defensive-minded player has joined the Lilywhites from fellow Pitching In Isthmian League North Division side Tilbury.

Carter has made 29 appearances for the Dockers this term, including one as a substitute in the 2-1 win over City in November – a game that marked the opening of the club’s new FWD-IP Community Stadium in Sawston.

Carter, who has previously turned out for Concord Rangers and East Thurrock United, could make his City debut on Tuesday (7 January) when they travel to Trafford Park to take on Wroxham.

City go into the clash in Norfolk having picked up 13 points from the last 15 on offer – form that has seen them move up to 10th place in the North Division standings.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, City’s trip to Brightlingsea Regent was postponed because of a frozen pitch.
