Cambridge City confirm departure of Tom Middlehurst following Isthmian League North Division victory over Concord Rangers

Cambridge City have confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Tom Middlehurst.

The 22-year-old, who started his career on the books of Sky Bet Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers, joined the Lilywhites during the summer after a stint with fellow Isthmian League North Division side Maldon & Tiptree.

Middlehurst went on to make 16 appearances between the posts for City, the last of which came during the 2-1 defeat to Royston Town in the FA Trophy on 26 October.

And now the club have revealed on social media that Middlehurst has moved on.

A message on City’s X feed read: “We would like to thank Tom for his contribution in a City shirt and wish him the best with his future.”

With youngster Gene Ghag in goal, City halted a four-game winless run in all competitions last night courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Concord Rangers.

Goals inside the opening 20 minutes from Beau Masters-MacDonald and Samrai Gebrai did the damage for Jamie Cureton’s side, who have moved up to 15th in the North Division table.

City are without a game this weekend, with their return to action scheduled for Tuesday (19 November) away at Newmarket Town.

The match will be City’s second visit to the Tristel Stadium this season, having already beaten the Jockeys 3-1 in the FA Trophy on 21 September.
