Cambridge City left frustrated as decisions go against them during defeat away at Coleshill Town

Cambridge City were left frustrated by a number of decisions from the officials during their 2-1 defeat at Coleshill Town on Saturday.

The Lilywhites started brightly in Warwickshire and they were rewarded in the 16th minute by Ryan Ingrey’s deft header from Mikey Davis’ free kick that nestled inside the far post. Davis then saw another set piece shave the woodwork before a key moment went against City early in the second half.

Stefan Broccoli appeared to be barged over inside the Coleshill box, but instead of a penalty being awarded, the City attacker was cautioned for diving.

Then, with eight minutes remaining, the hosts were awarded a spot kick despite City goalkeeper Joe Welch seemingly getting the ball in a challenge with Jack Whelan.

Sam Fitzgerald kept his cool from 12 yards and within a couple of minutes Coleshill netted what turned out to be the winner via Ashton Demulder’s speculative shot from distance that took a wicked bobble over a helpless Welch.

Fifteenth-placed City host Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday (November 4) and then travel to Sporting Khalsa on Tuesday (November 7).
