Dan Brown nets twice as Histon set up FA Vase tie with Lye Town
Histon will face Lye Town in the fourth round of the FA Vase.
They have been drawn against the Midland League, Premier Division side after a 5-1 win over Leverstock Green in the third round at the Glass World Stadium last Sunday.
It took Histon 10 minutes to break the deadlock as Dan Brown’s cross-shot hit the inside of the post and Ed Rolph tucked away the rebound.
The Stutes doubled their advantage in the 26th minute as Rob Ruddy placed a shot into the far corner.
It was 3-0 when Max York’s long throw to the near post was not dealt with properly, and Brown scored from a yard out.
And Histon had made it 4-0 by half time as another long throw was not dealt with and Brown was on hand to tap home.
With 20 minutes remaining, Pat Bexfield’s free kick increased Histon’s lead, with Leverstock Green’s Mark Smith nodding home a late consolation.
They will host Lye Town on Saturday, January 5.
Histon are back in the Thurlow Nunn League, Premier Division this Saturday at Kirkley & Pakefield.
