Mehmet Mimoglu appointed to Cambridge City board
Mehmet Mimoglu has joined the Cambridge City board of directors.
Mimoglu is a director of Coversure Insurance, who currently sponsor the Lilywhites’ development team, and in the summer became chairman of the club’s youth committee.
He moved to Cambridge from the outskirts of London four years ago, but quickly became associated with the club, becoming treasurer of the youth set-up last season.
“I am delighted to be invited to join the board of directors at Cambridge City,” said Mimoglu. "I moved to Cambridge from the outskirts of London four years ago and have been following the Lilywhites for just a few seasons.
“Even though my involvement with Cambridge City is only in its second year, I have found it to be a very friendly and accepting club.
"I have got to know a lot of people in a short space of time and I really feel at home here.I have over 30 years’ experience within football and was previously actively involved working for divisional FA committees in London.
"I am really proud and excited that I now have a chance to serve at board level and I am aware that the club is at a critical point in its history.
"To be where we are now and to be without a stadium is really frustrating for all of our fans. Everyone shares the same feelings and getting to Sawston is a must and a priority for all of us and then we can move to really re-establishing the club."
Mimoglu's commitments are with the youth set-up as he aims to help them develop a pathway through to the first team, working alongside manager Robbie Nightingale and head of youth development Ben Farmer.
And although he is mainly with the development team on a Saturday, he added: “My involvement in Cambridge City may not be very long but my passion and devotion to the Club is same and as big as every lifelong fan. I want to become a valuable, hard-working and long serving member of the board.
"I will try my very best to make a positive difference."
City chairman Kevin Satchell is delighted to have Mimoglu as a new member of the board.
"Mehment brings fresh enthusiasm, and plenty of football experience," said Satchell.
"He has new ideas and with his involvement with the sponsors of our Development Team, I am confident that he will become an excellent addition to the team as we continue to develop all areas of the club in readiness for our move to Sawston."
