Melissa Wilson and Holly Hill earn World Rowing Championships selection

Rowers to fly Cambridge University flag in America

Melissa Wilson and Holly Hill will be flying off to America next month after being named in the Great Britain squad for the World Rowing Championships.

Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club members Hill and Wilson earned their first call-up to the senior squad in the women’s four at the world cup in Lucerne.

But at the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, they will be racing together in the pair.

Also joining them on the flight to Florida will be Cambridge University Boat Club’s Lance Tredell and Old Blues Tom Ransley, who returns from an appendectomy, and cox Henry Fieldman.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be selected for our first senior World Championships,” said Wilson. “We were really inspired by the calibre of competition out in Lucerne at the last world cup and have been looking to build on our result in the GB final trials to see how far we can take this combination.

“After such a memorable year in the Cambridge squad we are eager to see what we can do over the next seven weeks.”
