GB crews bid for final places

Holly Hill and Melissa Wilson will contest the repechage for the women’s pair in Sarasota today (Wednesday).

With only one crew progressing to the finals from the heats on Monday, the Great Britain duo were facing a battle against the New Zealand pair, who have been in good form this season.

And the race went according to predictions as Grace Prendergast and Kerri Gowler won in 7min 8.32sec.

Hill and Wilson finished second in 7.13.91, with the Spanish crew third in 7.15.21.

Also in action in Florida this week are former Cambridge University Boat Club members Lance Tredell, Tom Ransley and cox Henry Fieldman.

They are all in Britain’s men’s eight, which finished second to Italy in the heats.

They now also go into the repechage, on Thursday.
