Michael King is crowned in Cambridge City return
Former loanee makes Lilywhites comeback
Former loanee Michael King has made a permanent return to Cambridge City.
The 23-year-old had a spell at City in the 2014/15 season, and has become manager Robbie Nightingale’s second summer signing.
King, who can play upfront and in midfield, joins from Hitchin Town, having had previous spells with Kettering Town, Biggleswade, Baldock and King’s Langley.
“I am delighted to have agreed terms with Michael King,” said Nightingale. “He is a player who will add experience to our squad and has won two promotions at the level we will be at next season.
“He is a strong team player and I am confident he will do well for us.”
And there was further good news for the Lilywhites as Darren Foxley has agreed terms for the new season.
The wide man joined City from Soham Town Rangers in January, and made 15 appearances to the end of the season.
“It’s another piece of great news for us on the playing front,” said Nightingale. “I consider Darren to be an excellent player and very talented.
“By getting a full season from him hopefully we will see this come through and I am delighted that he has decided to stay with City for another year.”
City have also announced their pre-season schedule, with all games away from home.
They face Haverhill Borough (July 8), Yaxley (July 15), Newmarket (July 21), AFC Sudbury (July 25), Histon (July 29), Harlow Town (August 1) and St Ives (August 5).
