Cambridge suffered a last-gasp 27-26 defeat to London GD in the Men’s Super 8 Handball League, Premier Division.

They took control of the opening exchanges to open up a narrow 17-15 half-time lead.

Cambridge’s defence held strong at the start of the second half, and extended their lead to five goals with just 10 minutes remaining.

But London GD rallied to level the match, and in the last few moments, the London club took the lead for the first time with what turned out to to be the winner as they extended their unbeaten run. Jose Ballester Beltran and Florian Strohl top scored for Cambridge with six goals each.

The first half was an even affair as Cambridge took a 9-8 lead into half time.

But they refocused in the second half and only conceded five goals, while the attack was better as they earned the win.

Kevin Guy and Nicolas Martin top scored for Cambridge with five goals each.
