Hiram Boateng will remain at Cambridge United until the end of the current Sky Bet League Two season.

The 25-year-old midfielder's temporary switch from MK Dons was due to expire in January, but the U's have extended the deal until the conclusion of the campaign.

Boateng is currently out with a shoulder injury suffered in early December, and is unlikely to return until at least the end of this month, but he had impressed in his 12 appearances to date.

U's head coach Mark Bonner said: “We are delighted that we have Hiram with us until the end of the season and look forward to welcoming him back from injury.

“From the outset the plan for Hiram was to get playing again and his impact on the team was excellent prior to his shoulder dislocation.

“He is working hard to stay fit and when his recovery is complete will offer real strength to our midfield for the season run in, and whilst we are without him for a little longer, believe it is worth waiting that period of time until he is ready to re-join the squad.

“He is a character we like and possesses real quality in possession. I believe he is enjoying his football and that will be to our benefit in the months ahead.”
