U's maintain unbeaten record

Cambridge United Futsal stretched their FA National Futsal Super League unbeaten run to six matches by earning their first away win of the season.

Having signed off 2017 with four wins and a draw, they faced a struggling Tranmere side, who had been difficult to beat at home.

However, the U's raced into a 3-0 lead, with Monty Bouttell scoring twice and Justo Lopez getting one.

A lapse in concentration let in a youthful Tranmere to pull one back before the break.

Midway through the second half, the hosts further reduced the deficit, but the goal galvanised the U's, who had been creating chance after chance, and Lopez got his second of the game from distance.

Tranmere grabbed a late consolation but the U's held on for a 4-3 victory. They face the same opponents this Sunday (January 21) at the University of Cambridge Sports Centre.
