Natasha Bamford and Greta Barclay were victorious in the Cambs and Hunts Ladies County Golf Association Junior/Ladies Greensomes Trophy.

The Ely City duo faced a stern challenge at Girton Golf Club, and made a slow start.

But they found their form on the back nine, scoring 22 points for a total of 38. Gog Magog’s Lucy Pepper and Girton’s Sue Hill were second with 34.

Barkway Park’s Teresa and Olivia Dyson won the prize for the best score going out, with 16, and Ely City’s Rachel Ashman and Eleanor Gamble took the plaudits on the inward nine with 20.

There was a first success for the Links, Newmarket in the Jean Wilkinson Trophy final.

They defeated Royston 4-2 in the semi-final to set up a clash with Brampton Park, who had beaten Lakeside Lodge 4 ½ - 1 ½ in the last four.

In an evenly-contested final, Brampton Park’s Fay Allison beat Edie Douglas one up for the first point of the afternoon.

The Links then won the next three points, with Lynn Lambert beating Linda Hall 2&1, Barbara Coe defeating Sally Palmer 2&1 and Jane Monk winning two up against Karen Large.

However, Brampton Park fought back as Anne Gibb won 6&4 and Katie Dixon triumphed 5&4.

And it went to an extra hole between the Links’ Lesley McAllister and Brampton Park’s Julie Miller, with McAllister claiming the glory for her club with a long putt on the 19th hole to give the Links a 4-3 success.
