Nathan Olukanmi strikes to give Cambridge City win over Romford in BetVictor Isthmian League, North Division

Nathan Olukanmi struck to help Cambridge City end a run of three successive defeats with a 1-0 win over Romford in the BetVictor Isthmian League, North Division.

On a heavy pitch, City took the game to the bottom-of-the-table visitors, with Jordan Gent heading narrowly wide.

Nick Dembele then tested former Lilywhites keeper Jake Jessup in the Romford goal.

It remained goalless at half time, and Romford had the first opportunity after the break, with Louis Theophanous firing narrowly wide with City keeper Dan George beaten.

Substitute Olukanmi had the decisive say in the 64th minute.

He burst through the Romford defence and produced a fine finish to get the better of Jessup.

City produced some great determination to see out the game for their first win since December 7.

City's rearranged match against Canvey Island on Tuesday night was again postponed. The Lilywhites are away to Brentwood this Saturday (January 18).

Histon earned a point from their trip to Brentwood Town with a 1-1 draw.

Captain Max York gave the Stutes the lead in the 18th minute, beating the keeper to his right.

But Temi Babalola equalised for Brentwood from the penalty spot four minutes into the second half.

Histon are at home to Romford this Saturday.
