Foxton Granta book place at Lord’s in final of National Village Cup after final-over victory over Grampound Road

Two years on from their semi-final heartbreak, Foxton Granta have booked themselves a date at Lord’s.

An eight-run win in Cornwall at the expense of hosting Grampound Road allowed Lewys Hill’s side secure a spot in the Voneus National Village Cup final on 15 September.

And it has seen the Foxes go one better than 2022 when they fell agonisingly short of an appearance at the home of English cricket.

It was Hill and opener Adam Webster that shone with the bat as they scored 40 runs each on Foxton Granta’s way to a score of 153-8 from their 40 overs.

The bowling attack then backed it up with a collective performance that was spearheaded by Sam Beer, who returned figures of 3-33.

Richard Kaufman (2-25), Ravi Mehendra (1-16), Henry Campbell (1-22) and Hill (1-34) also made contributions to help bowl the home side out during the final over of the contest.

Foxton Granta, who are set to host Saffron Walden II in the league on Saturday (10 August), will take on 2022 winners Dumbleton in the final.
