Cambridge Nomads enjoy five victories during latest batch of East League Hockey fixtures
Cambridge Nomads enjoyed an almost clean sweep of victories in the East Hockey Leagues last weekend.
In the East Women’s League Division 3 North West, Nomads ran out 3-2 winners at the expense of Ely City.
Zara Hrnjcic put hosting Nomads in front, but they found themselves trailing 2-1 heading into half-time.
However, Ellie Martin restored parity early in the second half before Hannah Snaith’s strike completed the turnaround.
Meanwhile, Cambridge Nomads II chalked up a 2-1 home win over Bourne Deeping II.
The club’s only defeat was suffered by the men’s first team as they lost 4-2 at City of Peterborough II in the East Men’s League Division 1 North.
Jack Franklin (2) and Matthew Huchu scored for Nomads, who were beaten by a last-minute goal.
Elsewhere, Cambridge Nomads II cruised to a 4-0 home win over Bourne Deeping II. James Willington, Paul Matthews, Arthur Meadows and Richard Lloyd all scored for the second string in the East Men’s League Division 3 North West encounter.
In the East Men’s League Division 4 North West, Cambridge Nomads III ran out 4-2 winners during their derby against Cambridge South V.
Skipper Temoc Rodriguez got Nomads off to a flying start, and further goals from Zinny Longson and Angus Gowland saw them take a 3-0 half-time lead.
South rallied in the second half, but Steve Hodsdon converted a penalty corner to secure the victory.
Cambridge South IV picked up their first win of the campaign as goals from Toby Hunt, Dan Paterson and Fred Hill sealed a 3-2 friendly win over Spalding IV.
