The bowlers starred for Old Leysians as they closed the gap on second-placed Newmarket to one point in the Whiting & Partners Cambs & Hunts Premier League, Division Two.

The visitors were probably left ruing the decision to bat first, as Old Leysians made the most of the opportunity with the ball.

Newmarket lost their first wicket without scoring, but Ziaf Kulasi (30) and Maxford Pipe (25) helped them recover to 58 for 2, and they moved on to 75 for 3. However, they only added 22 more runs for their next seven wickets.

Joseph Gunn-Roberts took four for 24, George Houghton snared three for 14 and Isabella Routledge returned three for 11, off just 3.5 overs.

Old Leysians were set a revised target because of rain, and Andrew Gale (36 not out) and Milan Mniszko (20 not out) saw them reach 59 for 1 for victory.

Foxton II secured a six-wicket win over Huntingdon & District.

Foxton won the toss and chose to field, with Sheraz Ali making 45 for Huntingdon & District.

Waqas Mahmud (26 not out) helped their total along as they closed on 144 for 8.

Foxton were wobbling on 37 for 3 in their reply, but the middle order came to their rescue.

Oliver Gadsby (20), Harry Gadsby (43 not out) and George Dean (33 not out) saw them win with 145 for 4 off 34.3 overs.
