Ollie Jury hat-trick helps Shelford colts porgress in Eastern Counties Cup
Under-14s are also among the points
Shelford colts have progressed to the semi-finals of the Eastern Counties Cup with victory over North Walsham.
They went into the game knowing that a win would see them through to the last four, and they delivered in style.
Shelford dominated most of the match, scoring seven first-half tries, through a brace from James Groser and one apiece from Nick Budenberg, Jack Biard, Finn Priddle, Olly Copper and Olly Jury, while Biard kicked two conversions to make it 39-0.
After the break, it was a bit more niggly, though Shelford maintained their overall dominance.
A red card made it hard going but their defence held firm, and they went on to add further tries through Biard, Jordan Barnes and two from Olly Jury, to complete his hat-trick. Biard kicked three conversions and James Gould landed one to make it 67-0.
Shelford under-14s were also in point-scoring form, against a depleted Royston.
The opponents only had nine players, so were lent six by Shelford.
In the first half, Will Rand, Gabriel Price, Harry Calne, Josh Barrett and Alex Lee touched down for Shelford, with Harvey Taylor kicking two conversions.
A different set of players appeared for Royston in the second half, but Shelford’s strength eventually told as Taylor touched down twice and Utku Cihan, Ned Westbrook, Freddie Sales, Scott Revell and Ryley Brown got one apiece. Taylor added a conversion.
