Paul Hodgkin has moved up to second in the Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union Winter Series after winning the third leg.

The county squads’ A, B and junior players did battle at the Links Golf Club, Newmarket, and after nine holes the early leaders were Ed Dimambro, Danny Loveday and Luke Ryan, who all shot 37.

But there was a turnaround on the back nine, with Hodgkin shooting a two-under-par, including three birdies, to finish with gross 72.

With Dimambro also shooting 72, it ended with countback and Hodgkin won with a better back nine. Ryan and Loveday both ended on 73.

Ryan leads the standings with 49 points, 12 clear of Hodgkin, with Tom Rogers in third with 34 and Toby Crisp fourth with 33.

Corey Dann won the under-21 category with 77, going out in 40 and returning in 37. He also won the first winter series under-21 prize.

The final leg of the winter series will be at St Neots Golf Club on Sunday, February 24.
