Shelford Rugby Club unveil Charlie Baker and Miles Anderson as new joint head coaches
Two well-known faces have been appointed the new joint head coaches of Shelford Rugby Club.
After what the club has described as an ‘extensive recruitment exercise’ in their bid to replace the outgoing Will Cotterill, the combination of Charlie Baker and Miles Anderson have been handed responsibility of the men’s senior team going forward.
The duo are both long-serving players at The Davey Field having racked up more than 460 appearances between them.
Club president Rory Finlayson said: “Charlie and Milo have been stalwarts of men’s rugby at Shelford for many years. Between them they have over 460 first team caps and are well respected by players and members.
“Over the last couple of years, they have both become increasingly involved in coaching as their playing careers come towards an end. Their appointment reflects our club’s commitment to growing talent internally.”
Meanwhile, in a joint statement, Baker and Anderson added: “We are honoured to step into the head coach role at Shelford Rugby Club and carry on the success previously achieved by Will and the players.
“We are excited to bring our knowledge, experience and passion to this new challenge. Between the two of us, we are very much looking forward to utilising each of our strengths to continue building a culture of hard work, dedication and enjoyment.”
Baker and Anderson’s first game in co-charge will be on Saturday (16 March) at home against Westcliff.
