The Perse School students book place at English Schools’ Athletic Association Cross Country Cup national final in Leeds
The Perse junior girls’ running team made great strides to qualify for the English Schools’ Athletic Association Cross Country Cup national final.
Having won their section at the county championships, the team followed it up by winning the East Central regional title at Stowe School.
Jasmine Christmas won the junior girls race and was backed up by fine performances from Olivia Kaser, Athene Ross, Daisy Fox, Maggie Kent and Harriet Sedgemore as they booked the team’s place in next month’s national final in Leeds.
The senior boys’ team had won the Cambridgeshire title, but narrowly missed out on qualification for the ESAA final after placing fourth in the regional championships, while the junior boys’ team were eighth in the regional finals after coming fourth in the county round.
Perse coach Nicky Bareham said: “It is with great delight that the junior girls won the regional round and now progress to the national final. It’s a superb achievement, but all of our pupils taking part pushed hard and battled well.”
