Pictures of the CRA Town Bumps on the River Cam as Cambridge 99 and Cantabrigian maintain headships

Cambridge 99 and Cantabrigian kept their headships of the CRA Town Bumps after a curtailed three days of racing on the River Cam last week.

The hot weather at the start of the week saw the first two days racing cancelled, and on the remaining three nights, there was no catching the lead crews in the men’s and women’s divisions.

Nines kept the headship of the men’s division one, with Cantabs staying in second place, while the main movers were City of Cambridge who went from sixth to third, bumping Rob Roy, Cantabs II and Nines II.

X-Press rowed over in seventh, while City II went up from 11th to eighth, with Cantabs III down one to ninth and Chesterton completing the top 10.

In the women’s top division, the first three crews rowed over, with Cantabs keeping the headship, City in second and Cantabs II staying in third.

Nines moved up from sixth to fourth, with Cantabs III dropping a place to fifth and Cantabs IV going up to sixth. St Neots went up from ninth to seventh, X-Press fell from fifth to eighth, City II went up two to ninth and Nines II went up two spots to complete the top 10.

Cantabs were the winners of the John Jenner Trophy, which is awarded to the club that on average gains the most overall places, with the number of places gained and lost divided by total crews entered.

Cantabs finished first with 0.76, from 25 crews entered and 12 places gained overall.

City were second with 0.54 (24 entered, 13 gained) and Nines were third with 0.53 (19 entered, 13 gained), with the M5, M7 and M8 crews all earning blades for getting a bump every night.
