Cambridge Baseball Club in action Herts Baseball Club, Harwich Town Bay Area Blues and Oxford Kings during busy weekend




It was a busy weekend of action for Cambridge Baseball Club’s junior and senior sides.

On Saturday, the club’s contingent of Under-10s, Under-12s and Under-14s all joined forces with their counterparts from Essex and Northants to face opposition from Herts Baseball Club.

The Under-10 Griffins split their two clashes with Herts in what proved to be a high-scoring encounters.

After dropping the first game, the team rallied to win the second match in dramatic fashion thanks to three runs in their last bat.

The trio of Patrick Dempsey (Essex), Cooper Kieller (Cambridge) and Daniel Langley (Northants) led the way.

Meanwhile, it was also honours even for the Under-12 Atom Smashers, who won 12-3 before slipping to an 8-2 defeat.

The offence was led by the hitting of Henry Zemke (Cambridge) and Ronnie Robson (Northants), while the pitching and defence came courtesy of by JP Murdoch (Cambs), Jacob Lewis (Essex), Jan Creixell (Cambridge) and Audrey Taylor (Cambridge).

As for the the Under-14 Atom Smashers, they dropped two hard fought games that could have easily gone either way, going down 7-6 and 4-3.

The side was spearheaded by the leadership of Addison Brown (Cambridge), as well as a first-rate pitching performance by Tommy Brown (Cambridge) and some equally impressive defence by Oscar McIver (Cambs) and Ben Stanley (Cambs).

On Sunday, the Cambridge Monarchs split their double header against the Harwich Town Bay Area Blues.

After dropping the first match 19-8, they triumphed in the second by a margin of 14-6.

The Monarchs were powered by strong hitting performances of Mark Chmielewski, Arti Perfiljev, Toby Eldred and Leonard Kung.

And there was also a spilt between Cambridge Lancers and Oxford Kings in the British Baseball Federation AA.

Following a 12-4 defeat, the Lancers responded with a Hayden Hood no-hitter to win 4-1 and top the table.
