Histon attacker Danny Gould returns to higher-league Grays Athletic
Danny Gould has left Histon to rejoin higher-league Grays Athletic.
Having originally come through as part of the Histon scholarship programme in 2016, Gould has gone on to amass 267 appearances for the Stutes across two separate spells.
He first departed the club to link up with Grays ahead of the 2021/22 campaign getting under way, only to return to Bridge Road before Christmas.
In total the 27-year-old found the back of the net 34 times for Histon, with his 10 goals last term making him the team’s top scorer in 2023/24.
Gould wrote on the social networking site X: “To all the supporters of Histon FC, unfortunately due to all the travelling in this league it’s time for me to move on.
“I’d like to thank the club for everything they’ve done for me over the years and making this a smooth transition.
“I’m leaving behind a quality squad that will be pushing for the play-offs and to all of the supporters, thanks for all the support you’ve given me since I was 16. Once a Stute, always a Stute.”
After playing out a 1-1 draw with Wroxham at the weekend, Grays are currently 11th in the Pitching In Isthmian League North Division standings with as return of nine points from their opening seven fixtures.
