Quartet make Cambridge City move

New boss adds to squad

Robbie Nightingale has wasted no time in strengthening the Cambridge City squad.

The new boss was installed on Wednesday night and he has returned to his former club to make four additions to the Lilywhites ranks.

Centre-back Jordan Gent and midfielders Ryan Sharman, Ross Paterson and Salim Relizani have made the jump from the Ryman League, North Division to the Evo-Stik League Southern, Premier Division.

Gent was part of the St Neots Town team that won promotion to the Southern League, Premier Division but made the switch to Soham in 2013, and he has made 23 appearances this season, scoring three times.

Sharman also started out at St Neots, captaining their under-18 side, and he has been a regular for Soham this season, scoring 16 goals in 24 appearances.

Relizani has also been among the goals this season, scoring six times, while former Newmarket Town and Cambridge University Press player Paterson has hit the target twice in 25 appearances.

It is hoped that all necessary paperwork will be completed in time for the quartet to be in contention to play in City’s home match with Merthyr Town this Saturday.

Meanwhile, Erkan Okay has left City and Charlie Day has asked to be released from the squad.
