Cambridge United quartet of Harvey Knibbs, Shilow Tracey, Lloyd Jones and Sam Smith up for Player of the Month award

Cambridge United has teamed up with Cambridge BID to give supporters the chance to vote for their Player of the Month.

August proved to be a positive month for the U's, who as well as racking up three straight league home wins also defeated EFL Championship side Millwall in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

And the four players put up for the opening month's prize are Harvey Knibbs, Shilow Tracey, Lloyd Jones and Sam Smith.

Knibbs' goals against MK Dons and Charlton Athletic were worth four points to Mark Bonner's side, while Tracey has been a menace for opposition defences down the left flank, providing two assists in the process.

Centre-back Jones has been an ever present at the heart of the United defence and up the other end of the pitch Smith tops the scoring charts with four goals – three of which came in the topsy-turvy clash with Burton Albion on August 27.

Meanwhile, Smith's form throughout August has also been recognised across the league after he was added to the shortlist for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month and the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month awards.
