Rhys Thorpe goal seals Histon victory Loughborough Dynamo in Northern Premier League
Rhys Thorpe’s first league goal at Bridge Road boosted Histon’s hopes of climbing out of the bottom three in the Northern Premier League, Midlands Division with a 3-2 win over Loughborough Dynamo.
The Stutes went into the match in the relegation play-off place, and 12 points from safety with six matches remaining.
They made the ideal start with skipper Ed Rolph giving them the lead after just six minutes.
Loughborough were back on level terms through James Tague in the 25th minute, and it remained 1-1 at half time.
Two minutes into the second half, Histon went 2-1 up ahead when Loughborough defender Jason Alexander put through his own net.
Their lead was extended three minutes later when Thorpe pounced for his first goal for Histon at home.
Tague grabbed a second for Loughborough late on, but Histon held out for the victory to complete the double over their opponents.
Histon go to third-placed Halesowen Town this Saturday (April 2).
Cambridge City suffered a 3-0 defeat at second-placed Chasetown last Saturday.
The Lilywhites host leaders Ilkeston Town this weekend.
