Rian Hamilton has become Cambridge's fourth new addition of the closed season.

The winger has joined the National League One club from National Two North side Wharfedale

Hamilton has been one of the top try scorers in the division for the last few years, and has previously played and travelled with Cambridge lock Kieran Frost.

“What probably is the most impressive thing about Rian is he is young, wants to get better, wants to test himself at a higher level and I think someone who scores as many tries as he does with a proven track record will fit in with how we want to attack and play next season," said Cambridge director of rugby Richie Williams.

“He has moved down to the area and really throwing himself at National One and wants to embed himself in the squad next season.

“I just like the way that he plays. He is very carefree, likes to express himself when he’s got the ball.

“He needs a little bit of development around some of his positioning and defensive work but he has definitely got the athletic ability and the raw ability to do really well at this level."

Williams added: “He is definitely an exciting prospect for the season. We’ve got Kwaku, Joe Green and Joe Patrick that are pretty established in our team so having someone of Rian’s ability who is a little bit different to those three players will certainly allow us to play a different way next season when we choose to do that."
