Rob Huff gives Leopard Racing team a TCR International Series boost
Driver plays key role for team-mate
Rob Huff secured valuable points to help his Leopard Racing team-mate in the quest for the TCR International Series title.
The Cambridge driver produced strong performances in both races in Thailand to aid Jean-Karl Vernay’s bid for overall honours.
A problem with the car set-up left Huff mired in the midfield for the start of both races, and the circuit was less suited to the Volkswagen Golf TCR.
In the first race, Huff fought his way from 16th to finish fifth to take valuable points off one of team-mate Vernay’s chief rivals for the championship, Stefano Comini.
It was more of the same in race two, as Huff worked his way up to eighth in a slightly less eventful race.
“The most important thing was that in race one I got up behind JK [Vernay] and stopped [Stefano] Comini from scoring some points,” said Huff.
“With JK qualifying P4, from 16th I never thought I’d see him in either race, but thankfully I did, and stopped people scoring points against him, which is why I’m here.
“I overtook at least 16 people this weekend, and we’ve got no damage on the cars so the guys can have a bit of a rest when they arrive in China.”
