Cambridge driver helps team-mate to success

Rob Huff made an impact in his first weekend with Leopard Racing Team WRT in the TCR International Series at Spa Francorchamps.

Driving the #3 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, Huff was on course for victory in the second race but was quick to help his title-focussed team-mate Jean-Karl Vernay to hand him the lead for his first win of the season.

Huff joined for the third round of the championship, and his main task is to help the team with the set-up and handling of the car, and aiding Vernay in his bid for the championship.

Huff and Vernay lined up next to each other on the grid, with Huff defending Vernay during the race as they finished fourth and sixth respectively.

In race two, Huff grabbed the lead on lap two and fought off challenge after challenge before blocking three cars down the inside to allow Vernay around to take the lead, and they finished first and second.

“It’s the second weekend we’ve worked together, and we understand each other very well,” said Huff.

“JK’s liking what I’m doing with the set-up of the car, and the engineers are happy with what I’m doing. As a racing driver, you’re there for the team, and my job here is not to win as I’m not doing the full championship, it’s to help JK.”
