Youngsters make the trip to Shipley Novice competition

Rufus Bord was the top performer for Cambridge Dive Team at the annual Shipley Novice competition.

The club sent some of their youngest divers to the event in Bradford, and they earned some impressive results.

Bord produced a consistent display to earn a bronze medal in the boys’ Group E event, and was just one point off silver.

Tobi Fayomi scored eights from all the judges on her straight fall from the 3m board, earning 31.20 points. It helped her to 145.30 points, and sixth place overall.

There were 43 divers competing in the girls’ Group C event, and Grace Hodge, Honor Creasy and Siena Kelly represented the Cambridge Dive Team, securing good scores throughout.

Max Burnell took part in the boys’ Group D category and his confident jump helped him to 141.15 and, in the same section, Daniel Lock demonstrated some very impressive entries.

Newcomer Carrie Ma was in action in the girls’ Group D and showed her promise by scoring high marks throughout the competition, with Daisy Chapman and Marta Morgan just behind as they grow in confidence with more competition experience.

Amelia Aldridge, Fergus Aldridge and Caleb Whitear were among a host of divers in their first competition, and they showed great potential, staying cool and composed in a tough environment.
