Ryan Sharman brace helps fire Cambridge City to victory
Ryan Sharman topped and tailed Cambridge City’s 4-1 win over Welwyn Garden City in Evo-Stik League South, Division One Central.
New signing Ollie Swain made his debut for City having joined on loan from Hemel Hempstead, and they made a good start, with Sharman slotting home from close range in the first minute.
Swain conceded a penalty in the 13th minute, which Elliot Bailey tucked away for Welwyn.
City gained the ascendancy in the second half, and went back in front when Max Booth headed home from close range in the 65th minute.
Adam Watkins made it 3-1 with a long-range effort in the 75th minute, and Sharman sealed City’s win in the 82nd minute, finding room at the edge of the area to fire home.
It gave City back-to-back league wins for the first time since September.
They are away to Sutton Coldfield Town this Saturday (March 30).
