Sarah Leiter wins prestigious Women of the Future Award
Goalball star recognised on national stage
Sarah Leiter’s goalball excellence has seen her win a major national award.
The Cambridge Dons Goalball Club member was named joint winner of the sport category in the Women of the Future Awards.
Leiter plays for Great Britain and combines international sport with studying medicine and pursuing research at Cambridge University.
The awards recognise inspirational rising female stars of today and tomorrow across a diverse range of categories.
The citation for Leiter, who was joint winner with Alexandra Paske, read that “both winners in the sport category stood out as phenomenal role models and ambassadors for their profession.
“The judges applauded Sarah for being hugely gifted and determined to make a significant contribution in the medical sphere but also the way in which she has overcome the challenge
of her impaired vision to become a first-class sportswoman.
“She is an incredible mentor, encouraging participation in goalball from grassroots to international level.”
