A new sponsorship deal will boost the football scholarship programme at Histon Football Club and Impington International College.

Cambridgeshire building contractor CD Hood have agreed a significant deal to aid the programme which allows students to train and play football within their timetabled curriculum while studying for an IB diploma, IB careers programme or BTEC qualifications.

Carl Hood, director of CD Hood Ltd, said: “It is an honour to be associated with the scholarship programme and we are pleased to be able to provide this financial support. On a personal level I am extremely pleased to be involved as an ex-student of Impington Village College.”

After a successful recruitment process, there will be between 20 and 30 boys on the programme for 2019/20 season. It follows on from last season when they won all bar two games in their league with a side of predominantly under-16 players.

Ryan Kelsall, principal of Impington Village College and International Sixth Form, said: “It is also the result of the continued success of the college with academic performance significantly above international and national averages year on year making it one of the top 10 per cent of schools nationally.”
